Preschool/Prekindergarten

Preschool and Prekindergarten at Peace feature exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills in a safe nurturing Christ-centered environment. Your child will interact in a structured classroom setting with opportunities to explore hands-on learning. Our teachers synchronize activities to advance your child to the next grade level as well as enhance and kindle the learning spark at an early age.

IL4_6487The preschool program includes a three-day-a-week class (M/W/F) or a two-day-a-week class (T/Th) in either the morning or
the afternoon. Prekindergarten is a five-day-a-week program with either a morning or afternoon session. When your child’s class is not in session, they can attend the Child Care program, open Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The preschool class enrolls children who are three years old and potty-trained. Each class is limited to 12 children with one teacher and an aide. The prekindergarten class is limited to 16 students; children in this class must be four years old by August 31.

The curriculum for preschool and prekindergarten is primarily based on Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines. The development of healthy growth in cognitive, social/emotional, physical, language and spiritual learning in the early years sets the pace for success in school and life. We share and model our faith to nurture and build spiritual growth and character. Concordia Publishing House curriculum, One in Christ, guides daily learning by including Bible stories, songs, prayer and worship.

Teachers use a developmental checklist and portfolio notebook to assess each child’s learning progress. They meet with parents twice a year at parent/teacher conferences to discuss growth and determine goals. These years of early childhood learning open the doors for a smooth transition into our kindergarten through eighth grade program. Our teachers in preschool through eighth grade at Peace are unified in Building Faith…One Child at a Time.
