Pastor Brynestad was raised in Puyallup, WA. He attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA before joining the U.S. Army in 1977. While stationed at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas he met and married Julee (Alves). Together they have six children; Rev. Chris and Laura (Bryce, Brock, and Blake), Kendall, Matthew and Jessica (Caden), Stephen, Serena and Jeff Young (Jack), and Kimberlee. He returned to PLU in 1989 to finish his undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Before entering the pastoral ministry, Pastor Brynestad trained at the U.S. Modern Pentathlon Olympic Training Center in San Antonio, TX (a five sport event consisting of equestrian riding, epee fencing, pistol shooting, swimming and cross-country running), worked in television (KMOL-San Antonio TX, KSTW-Tacoma, WA, and KHBS/KHOG-Ft. Smith, AR), as a swim coach (Ft. Smith Tiderider’s, Ft. Smith, AR) and as a Director of Family Ministry at Bethel Lutheran Church also in Ft. Smith, AR.
After graduating from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 2000 he served congregations in Devine, TX (Divine Savior-3 years) and Corpus Christi (Messiah-14 years). Pastor Brynestad retired from the National Guard after 34 years where he served in public affairs and for his last 16 years as a chaplain.
Mr. Eisele grew up in Portland, Oregon where he attended Fernwood Elementary School and Portland Lutheran High School. After graduating college from Concordia University in Nebraska, he has served as teacher, or principal at Trinity-Kalispell, MT; Christ-Murray, UT, Peace-Bremerton, WA and Christ-Juniata, NE.
In 1997, Mr. Eisele was recognized as a teacher of distinction for middle school social studies instruction in Wasatch County, UT. In 2000, Mr. Eisele accepted his first administrative position as assistant principal and athletic director. In 2003, Mr. Eisele became principal at Peace-Bremerton, WA and was appointed to the accreditation commission of the Northwest District of the LCMS. In 2014, Mr. Eisele answered the Call to join the staff at Christ Lutheran-Juniata, NE to serve as principal/teacher and to lead their school through a school restart/accreditation process. In July of 2022, Doug returned to Peace-Bremerton, WA as principal. Doug has served as an NLSA councilor for accreditation to several schools in both the Northwest and Nebraska Districts of the LCMS.
Doug and his wife Paula have two adult children named Dane and Ciera. Upon returning to Bremerton Paula returned to her old job as an orthodontic assistant in Silverdale, WA. Their son Dane currently works in a food distribution warehouse and their daughter Ciera helps manage a fitness center in Pearl Harbor, HI where her husband (Noah) is stationed as a drone mechanic.

Our congregation will have one Sunday service at 9 am until further notice. Sunday School and fellowship will occur around 10:30 am
